Massachusetts

Massachusetts just can’t seem to have enough mathematically significant road signs. Randy Weiss puts another one on the board from the Boston metro area. This sign leverages the clarification in the 2nd Edition Rules, specifically Rule 6, Field of View. You can clearly see the back of a sign on the other side of the post, however, as Rule 6 states those signs are excluded from the calculation of the math. This sign is extremely close to Bedford, and just down the road from Big Math.

The math here is obvious, but would likely be missed by many people.

5 - \sqrt{9} = 2

This sign is found along the eastbound service road alongside Route 2 East at the intersection with Park Ave. The GPS coordinates are approximately N42 24 37.5 W71 10 51.9. See sign on map!
