Road Sign Math

Another in the series of signs from lover of mathematically significant road signs, David Slauenwhite. After introducing RSM to New York, David wasted no time extending us into our 10th state with a winning sign from Massachusetts. (Ed.: Don’t worry, there are 40 more opportunities to get the vaunted gold star designation of the first sign in any state not to mention other countries!)

You should expect a sign that points us to the land of knowledge that is Amherst College would incorporate some more advanced mathematics. This sign uses the often overlooked Modulo (mod) function to make it’s point.

This sign is found in Montague Township, Massachusetts where Highway 63 meets Main St/Millers Falls Rd. The GPS coordinates are approximately N42 34 37.2 W72 29 42.9. See sign on map!
