Road Sign Math

This sign, the 40th mathematically significant roadsign is a real “barnburner”! The accomplishments of this 40th sign are many fold. First, it’s only the 2nd constant sign ever found, and the first one that results in pi (see Euler, Anybody, Euler). Secondly, it is the first sign for another state, bringing Connecticut to the game. Lastly it also qualifies as a Blue Ribbon sign for it’s many accomplishments. This sign is the last in a long string of signs submitted from David Slauenwhite.

This sign is straightforward in it’s mathematics. The 44 and 7 combination at first doesn’t seem to yield anything. However, due to the two 7’s we can divide 44 by 2, yielding 22. 22 factors into 7 exceeding (see Constant Clarification) close to one of the most famous constants in all of mathematics.
